TreeCycle – The Route (29/04/08)

TreeCycle announces its route ‘Along The Length of India in 80 Days’ starting on June 5th, World Environment Day. Shrenik will be cycling to the following places on the following dates;

June 5th – Kanyakumari

June 11th – Cochin

June 20th – Mysore

June 25th – Bangalore

July 6th – Hyderabad

July 20th – Nagpur

August 3rd – Gwaloir

August 6th – Agra

August 12th – Delhi

August 16th – Chandigarh

August 18th – Shimla

Pledges from six Continents (15/04/08)

TreeCycle has now officially received pledges from six different contents – Asia, Australasia, Africa, Europe, South America and North America – taking it truly global. Treecycle’s next aim is to now increase the number of pledges in each continent in order to reach our target of 10million trees.

Professional Cycle Coach to train Shrenik (02/04/08)

The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh has pledged its support for TreeCycle by providing a cyclist trainer and sports facilities. Shrenik has now started a training program with Mr Chandrareddy which includes visits to Hyderabad’s velodrome and cycling in the vicinity of Hyderabad daily.

HUDA pledges 2.5million trees (07/03/08)

The Hyderabad Urban Development Authority has pledged the plantation of 2.5million trees for TreeCycle. This is a big step towards the TreeCycle target of 10million trees. HUDA has also generously offered to provide free training to anyone wanting to plant a tree. HUDA knows that it is very important to choose an appropriate tree for its local conditions, plant it effectively and maintain it well.

Dolsun announces partnership with The UN (01/03/08)

Dolsun Media has announced a partnership with The United Nations Environment Program. Shrenik Rao, The Founder and Creative Director of Dolsun Media will cycle 4000km ‘Along the length of India in 80 days’ as part of the ‘Billion Tree Campaign’. Starting at Kanyakumari on June 5th (World Evironment Day) Shrenik will cycle North to Kashmir to raise awareness about global warming and encourage all to plant trees. Adding to the 14,000 pledges that have already been made worldwide, the target is expected to be 10 million ‘pledges to plant’.




'Denied- This Bit of Truth'

The Indian national press was keyed up about the screening of 'Denied - This Bit of Truth' at Harvard University. An article in The Hindu, India's national newspaper, highlighted how relevant the documentary currently is with the current headlines of the EU AU summit and the question of Robert Mugabes attendance.

Harvard Premiere (16/11/07)

After much anticipation the 16th of November finally saw 'Denied - This Bit of Truth's US premier at Harvard University, Boston, USA. The proceedings started at 6.30pm. The film received great reviews and was considered to be a masterpiece.

Ezra Mbogori, one of the panelists at Harvard University said "it was a brilliant film which represents the contradictions that Zimbabwe presents". Andrew Meldrum, a Nieman fellow at Harvard University's Kennedy school of Government continued the positive feedback stating that "it is an excellent film and a great effort by the film maker to show the many aspects of the political situation in Zimbabwe".

Profile on BBC Outlook (24/10/07)

Shrenik Rao gave an interview with the BBC Program 'Outlook', it examined Zimbabwe through the eyes of Shrenik Rao, who highlighted everyday life is in Zimbabwe and discussed some of Zimbabwe's key leaders, really giving the listeners a fresh insight and appreciation of Zimbabwe today.

LSE Premier (22/10/07)

'Denied - This Bit of Truth' saw its UK premier on the 22nd of October (2007) at The London School of Economics. At 6.30pm the Documentary was premiered and was followed by a panel discussion before being "thrown open (to the audience) to get a response to the documentary and the wider issues it raises" as Charlie Beckett the LSE POLIS Director and panel chair stated.

The documentary was well received at its global premier as Shrenik Rao was "able to gain access to interview Zimbabwean politicians of the highest level" meaning that 'Denied - This Bit of Truth' "provided a new level of insight into the Zimbabwean political spectrum", Fatima Manji, LSE.

Zimbabwean experts Sandra Nyaira, George Shire and Brilliant Mhlanga joined Shrenik Rao for the panel discussion, which drew many positive conclusions. Mhlanga, a Zimbabwean political analyst, emphasized during the discussion that in order to "build Zimbabwe" it was necessary to include "all voices" within Zimbabwe. Nyaira, The Secretary of the Association of Zimbabwean Journalists highlighted the obstacles that parties and people in Zimbabwe face. For example, police clearance is required for anymeeting of more than five people. Shire a Zimbabwean academic, regularly visiting Zimbabwe from the UK, shared and inside perspective and asked "What is it the rest of the third world see in Robert Mugabe, that Britain don't see?"

The premier was followed several days later by an interview with Shrenik Rao on the BBC World programme "Outlook".
